Connectivity Issues When Using Uber App


Issue:


When using the latest Apple iOS Uber app with a Netsanity protected device, users may notice the app not functioning normally. Uber has made changes to their network disallowing VPN traffic and thereby hindering some of the app's functionality. 


Solution:


Users can temporarily disable the Netsanity VPN long enough to call for a ride by toggling "Connect On Demand" to the off position.  Doing so will disable the VPN temporarily, and allow the user to use Uber without experiencing issues.  *Please note.  It is not necessary to re-toggle "Connect On Demand" to the "On" position manually.  Once the Netsanity VPN refreshes, it will turn back on automatically. 


Please follow the steps below to turn "Connect On Demand" off temporarily:


  1. On the device affected by Uber's connection problem - go to SETTINGS | VPN | and select the blue "i" next to "Netsanity VPN"
  2. Select the toggle for "Connect On Demand" to the OFF position
  3. Force close the Uber app and then reopen to use normally.
  4. You may re-toggle the "Connect On Demand" back to the ON position, however, once the VPN refreshes it will reconnect automatically.
